WTHS Marching Band places 5th at the Atlantic Coast Championships
On Saturday, November 2nd, the WTHS Marching Band competed at the Atlantic Coast Championships held at Central Dauphin HS in Harrisburg, PA. The Band came in 5th Place outscoring 17 other Group 2A Bands from NJ, PA, DE and MD. They scored a season high 89.3.WTHS Marching Band Accomplishments for Weekend of 11/01/19
On Friday evening, the WTHS Marching Band performed at the Burlington Twp. HS Football game. The Band played in support of the Varsity Football Team and also performed during the pregame celebration.
On Saturday, the WTHS Marching Band competed at the Atlantic Coast Championships held at Central Dauphin HS in Harrisburg, PA. The Band came in 5th Place outscoring 17 other Group 2A Bands from NJ, PA, DE and MD. They scored a season high 89.3.
This event concluded the 2019 Marching Band season. The Band ended the season capturing four 2nd place finishes, one 3rd place finish, 4th Place (out of 14) at the NJ State Championships, 2nd Place (out of 5) at the Chapter 1 Championships and 5th Place (out of 22) at the Atlantic Coast Championships. The Band spent most of the season ranked 14th (out of 48) in Group 2A competition. The Band was seeded 10th for the Atlantic Coast Championships. Because of a very strong performance at Championships and numerous late season visual and musical changes, the Band jumped from 10th to 5th. The traditionally excellent Color Guard finished in 2nd place.
This year’s show is entitled Africa. We tell the story of our Family, the circle of strength founded on faith, joined in love, and kept by God. The Band performs This Land by Hans Zimmer and Africa by Robert W. Smith. The beginning Narration is read by Euginia Thompson. Musical and Visual soloists are Lilia Mandap, Dalyne Chea, Olivia Reinert, Niiua Clark, Alyssa Goldsboro, Naomi Ibidapo, Gene Embert, Jordan Jamieson, Honesty Wiggins, Bryanna Andrews and the WTHS Drum Line.
The Drum Majors for the 2019 season are Dalyne Chea and Jay Thurman. The Captains are Ana Maria Aponte–Horn Captain, Paige Hudgins–Drum Captain, Michelle An and Niiua Clark–Pit Captains, Bryanna Andrews and Alyssa Goldsboro–Guard Captains.
