Five WTHS students earn entry into the Philadelphia Flower Show!!

Congratulations to Yassira Arciga, Alyssa Goldsboro, Jennifer Lopez, Karla Lopez, Heather McCarty, Kahlia Williams and Daniel Wunschel for actively working in an after-school endeavor pursuing a goal to enter an exhibit in the 2019 Philadelphia Flower Show.

The Philadelphia Flower Show has been an annual highlight during the spring for over a century. It is one of the largest and most prestigious flower shows in the United States. Under the guidance of Mrs.Rivard, these students decided upon the Pressed Plant Entry -Youth Category as their first attempt at becoming an exhibitor.  Students had to learn how
to press plants and then turn this material into art, following strict guidelines established by Pennsylvania Horticulture Society (PHS), sponsor of the annual Philadelphia Flower Show.

This was the first year PHS decided to jury the Youth categories - thus raising the bar for creative artistic entries.  There were 150 initial entries to PHS, and with some collaboration with Mrs. Del Buono's Photography class, all seven students made it through the first round of jury.  Of the 55 entries that passed the first jury, 5 of our students were accepted as part of the 48 total entries that will be on display! This is truly an exciting opportunity to see Winslow Township High School student work displayed in such a respected and distinguished setting.  The show runs from March 2, 2019-March 10, 2019.  Congratulations to all seven of these participants.

Congratulations to Alyssa Goldsboro, Jennifer Lopez, Karla Lopez,  Kahlia Williams and Daniel Wunschel for having their entries accepted as exhibits to the 2019 Philadelphia Flower Show!
