February 10, 2026
Dear Parents and
Guardians of 11th Grade Students,
This letter is to inform
you that all 11th grade students will participate in the New Jersey Graduation
Proficiency Assessment–Adaptive (NJGPA). On September 8, 2021, the New Jersey
State Board of Education adopted new graduation assessment requirements that
align with state statute. These regulations require all students, as a
prerequisite for graduation, to demonstrate proficiency by earning a passing
score on both the English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics components of the
NJGPA.
If, after completing the
NJGPA, a student does not demonstrate proficiency in ELA and/or Mathematics,
the student may be eligible for one of the following options:
·
Retake the NJGPA
·
Meet a designated
cut score on an approved alternate assessment
·
Complete a portfolio
appeal to be submitted to the New Jersey Department of Education during the
student’s senior year
Please note that students
are only eligible for the options listed above if they have participated in
both the ELA and Mathematics components of the NJGPA. Additionally, the State
of New Jersey has eliminated the ability to opt out of testing. Failure to
participate in the NJGPA will result in a student being ineligible to graduate.
Winslow Township High
School will administer the NJGPA–Adaptive for the Class of 2027 from March 16
through March 20. The assessment consists of three units:
·
ELA Reading: two
75-minute sessions
·
ELA Writing: one
90-minute session
·
Mathematics: two
75-minute sessions
All students are required
to bring their school issued Chromebook for testing. Please ensure that
Chromebooks are fully charged and that charging cords are brought to school on
testing days.
We will also host an
NJGPA Parent Information Night on Tuesday, February 24 at 6pm, in the
auditorium. This session will provide an overview of the adaptive testing
format, testing procedures, assessment content and general test taking tips.
Thank you for your
continued support as we work together to ensure student success.
Sincerely,
Kurtis Marella,
Principal
